Refund policy

Your right to withdraw — 14 days, no reason needed

If you bought from this shop as a consumer, you may withdraw from the purchase within 14 days, counted from the day you receive the item. You do not need to give a reason, and the item does not need to be faulty. This is the statutory right of consumers in the EU and EEA under the Consumer Rights Directive, and this shop applies the same 14-day window to every customer, wherever they are.

Nothing on this page limits that right. In particular, the right to withdraw is not restricted to products that arrived damaged or wrong — those are a separate matter, described further down.

You keep the item — no return shipment required

For a valid withdrawal from a physical product that is not faulty, we refund you and you keep the product. You do not have to pack anything, you do not have to pay return postage, and there is no return address to send it to.

This is more generous than the law requires. We do it because our physical products are printed to order by a print provider and shipped directly from their facility; a returned shirt cannot go back into stock, and a print provider's facility address is meant for undeliverable parcels, not for consumer returns.

How to withdraw

Use the withdrawal function on Cancel or withdraw an order. It takes two steps: you state that you want to withdraw, then you confirm with your order details. You may also write to writesidesofhistory@gmail.com, or use the model withdrawal form printed on that page. You are not obliged to use the model form.

We confirm every withdrawal request by email to the address you give us, so that you have the confirmation in writing.

Your refund

We refund within 14 days of receiving your withdrawal notice, to the payment method you paid with. We refund the price of the product and the standard delivery cost you paid for it. Because no return shipment is required, there are no return costs for you to bear.

Damaged, misprinted or wrong products — a separate route

If a product arrives damaged, misprinted, or is not the product you ordered, that is a fault in what we delivered. It is handled through the print provider's defect procedure, which ends in a reprint or a refund. Report it through the same form or by email, and include a photograph if you can — the print provider needs one to open a defect case.

This route exists in addition to your right to withdraw. It does not replace it, and your statutory rights in respect of faulty goods are not affected by anything written here.

Digital products

Our e-books, dossiers and deep dives are delivered as a download immediately after purchase.

For digital content, the 14-day right to withdraw ends only if you expressly asked for delivery to begin immediately and acknowledged that you thereby lose the right to withdraw. Where you have not given both, the 14-day right applies to the digital product as it does to a physical one.
