Caesar raised the Tenth in Hispania in 61 BC and it stayed his favourite through the whole Gallic war. The name Equestris comes from a single day in 58 BC: riding out to parley with Ariovistus, Caesar distrusted his Gallic cavalry escort and put the men of the Tenth on their horses instead. They joked that he had made them knights. The front of this shirt is that legion — standard, shield and the ground it took. The back carries the Writesides of History mark and address, and nothing else.
